MC is a real loser, his “friend” keeps trying to kill him for no reason, and the Mc doesn’t even think to fight back. Just runs away all the time, with sudden plot weakness all of a sudden. Super trash

There are so many “audiobooks” like this, that are just simple failures in anything resembling coherent storytelling.
I have an entire list of authors I cannot listen to, and recently narrators as well. One of the worst things lately though is the lack of variety in verbiage. Its almost like lately the lack of variety makes it hard to notice that variety exists. Noticing that……
Does that seem pedantic? OMG yes. Now imagine it throughout a “novel”. Reusing the same words sentence after sentence. Using verbs that are super basic twice in a row because you’re lazy is fine. Using them throughout your prose is just gross. Shameful even, because some of the ideas that were completely wasted due to lack of editing is hilarious.
Another facet of this is the narration. If you can’t say the word legionnaire without adding a y at the end, then you don’t belong talking about military that involves legions. This isn’t legionnaires disease, its legions of troops, or legionnaire. OMG!!!

No structure to the story (or the system), half assed character development, and the whole thing “reads” like a bunch of kids playing “let’s pretend” and making up a story as they go along.
If you enjoy Lit-RPG stories, avoid this one..

I haven’t listened to the audiobook yet, but I did find vhostym’s thoughts interesting. When I’m writing I have a tendency to over-use words myself, and the reason in my case is that I focus on one sentence, one thought at a time and I don’t think about what I’ve written BEFORE or how many times I’ve used a certain adjective. It’s completely unnoticeable when I’m writing but sticks out like a sore thumb when I’m reading what I’ve written, as it would to anyone.
That means one of two things, and a third that’s valid in either case, and a forth that the other three necessitate.
1) This was written by, or mostly by, an LLM.
2) This was written by a person who didn’t bother ding any editing.
Either way, it’s obvious that
3) this was not proofread and therefore,
4) The author was unconcerned with the quality of the story itself.
Conclusion: Shovelware. Avoid, except as a practical example of what NOT to do.
That’s a lot to base off of a single issue. I think I’ll give it a quick listen-see, anyway but I expect i’ll be wasting my time in doing so.
