Advised by a council of former sky citizens as well as Cazadores, he works to assimilate the two societies peacefully. But not all Cazadores have accepted the new order. While X tries to ease tensions at home, a rookie team of divers, led by Michael Everhart, returns to the skies in Discovery, formerly the ITC Deliverance. Their mission: To locate other human survivors throughout the world and rescue them. Note : These copies are from the previous split uploads. Both copies have been merged losslessly and are fully chapterised. Credits for the original uploader have been added to the NFO, along with a note on the merging process. I also created a new CUE file for each copy. Edit : It’s been brought to my attention that some media players cannot find the embedded chapter marks without the CUE file present. I’ve tested these copies in iTunes and VLC player and with or without the CUE file the chapter marks show. AIMP player though, will not show the chapter marks unless you have the CUE file in the same directory. I assume this has something to do with how Chapter and Verse encodes the metadata, I’m not really sure tbh. I’ll look into it and see if there’s anything I can do for any future lossless box set splits.

Strange rips. It’s supposedly True Decrypt, but there’s no internal chaptering without the cue file, and your attached nfo says you’ve messed with the rip by “merging” something in chapter and verse.

And inspecting the files reveals that they have indeed been messed with by Chapter & Verse, meaning it’s not actually a True Decrypt anymore.

I’m sorry but that’s not true Lieve, at all. I have these files in my itunes library and you can freely switch between the chapters, without the cue file. They have correct internal chapter marks. The rip isn’t even remotely messed up by chapter and verse. Chapter and verse merely merged the files into one chapterised file without re:encoding, it’s completely lossless, the audio quality identical to the original files.

The above is the log from Chapter and Verse for a book I’ve just merged. Chapter and Verse isn’t re:encoding the audio to any different format as you can see above. The audio should sound identical to the original source files, and I have a pretty Sennheiser and cannot notice any difference whatsoever. The Hell Divers files and others I’ve done with Chapter and Verse sound exactly like the original source files, because they are the original source files merged lossless.

I also loaded the merged m4b file of Hell Divers V into inAudible.
inAudible shows 28 chapters. inAudible states the file is 126kbits @44100hz, 2 channels, which is identical to the original True Decrypt rips uploaded here.

Yes like I wrote it’s fine if you have the cue file, but chapters can be kept internally without the use of a cue file. 1 big mp3 file needs a cue file to keep chapter information, but that’s not needed for the m4b format. There should be no reason to use chapter and verse to mess with a true decrypt if done correctly.
So if you load up the m4b solo without having a cue file in the same folder, in say AIMP on your pc, or on your phone using something like Smart AudioBook Player, then the chapter info is missing, because it needs the cue file attached to show the chapters :)

Oh. I can only speak from my own experience. In itunes for example all the chapter marks are shown and you can move between them no problem. The chapters also showed up with inAudible like mentioned too. Apologies if that’s the case, there’s now way I could of known that and I’ve only just started using it. In future I’ll make sure my note states that while the audio is lossless from the True Decrypt they’re not actually True Decrypt copies to save any confusion. I’ll also make a note about the chapter marks being for itunes/similar players. With itunes the chapters show up without a CUE file present because I checked it. I removed the CUE file completely and the chapter marks still show, and without a CUE file inAudible also shows the chapters and allows you to adjust the internal marks. So without a doubt the chapter marks are embedded internally within the file. I honestly don’t know why certain players wouldn’t be able to find them.
These copies aren’t mine. They were originally uploaded here in split files rather than one file. I believe you yourself commented on those uploads Lieve. Because of that the only way to create single file/chaptered/lossless copies is to use a programme like Chapter and Verse.

Right. I’d never heard of AIMP but I went and downloaded it and verified what you stated. Weird. Without the CUE the internal chapter marks don’t show. Like stated though, both inAudible and iTunes find the embedded chapter marks without a CUE file. It’ll need someone smarter than me to explain what causes that issue. I’ll make a note to state certain players will requite the CUE file and also try and look into it and see if I can build a copy that shows the embedded chapters in AIMP without a CUE.

I loaded them into VLC player. VLC also finds the chapters without a CUE file. I honestly don’t know why some players can’t find them.

I tried a different book I’d rebuilt, this one being done with inAudibles merge option. That brings new problems along with fixes lol. While again the merge is lossless and the audio itself is untouched, the metadata itself is re:encoded, same with Chapter and Verse, audio untouched but metadata re:encoded. Anyway, the inAudible merge does show chapters in AIMP, I don’t even have a CUE file for that copy. A new problem arises though. iTunes shows all the chapters but they’re all labelled 001. AIMP does show the correct chapter name on the left but the chapter names themselves are all labelled 001. I can’t see anyway to change the naming system within inAudible without re:encoding the Audio also.

Wow, you all seem to know all about ebook tech lol. Whats the best way to host and listen to these that comes close to audible? I’ve been using plex, which I use for all my video stuff, but its very lacking in the audiobook realm.
