Book 1
One Second After
New York Times best-selling author William R. Forstchen now brings us a story which can be all too terrifyingly real … a story in which one man struggles to save his family and his small North Carolina town after America loses a war, in one second, a war that will send America back to the Dark Ages … A war based upon a weapon, an Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP). A weapon that may already be in the hands of our enemies.
Months before publication, One Second After has already been cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book already being discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at a weapon and its awesome power to destroy the entire United States, literally within one second. It is a weapon that the Wall Street Journal warns could shatter America. In the tradition of On the Beach, Fail Safe, and Testament, this book, set in a typical American town, is a dire warning of what might be our future … and our end.
Book 2
One Year After
The thrilling follow-up to the New York Times bestselling novel One Second After.
Months before publication, William R. Forstchen’s One Second After was cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read. Hundreds of thousands of people have read the tale. One Year After is the thrilling follow-up to that smash hit.
The story picks up a year after One Second After ends, two years since the detonation of nuclear weapons above the United States brought America to its knees. After suffering starvation, war, and countless deaths, the survivors of Black Mountain, North Carolina, are beginning to piece back together the technologies they had once taken for granted: electricity, radio communications, and medications. They cling to the hope that a new national government is finally emerging.
Then comes word that most of the young men and women of the community are to be drafted into an “Army of National Recovery” and sent to trouble spots hundreds of miles away.
When town administrator John Matherson protests the draft, he’s offered a deal: leave Black Mountain and enter national service, and the draft will be reduced. But the brutal suppression of a neighboring community under its new federal administrator and the troops accompanying him suggests that all is not as it should be with this burgeoning government.
Book 3
The Final Day
The highly-anticipated follow-up to William R. Forstchen’s New York Times bestsellers, One Second After and One Year After, The Final Day immerses readers once more in the story of our nation’s struggle to rebuild itself after an electromagnetic pulse wipes out all electricity and plunges the country into darkness, starvation, and terror.
After defeating the designs of the alleged federal government, John Matherson and his community have returned their attention to restoring the technologies and social order that existed prior to the EMP (Electro-Magnetic Pulse) attack. Then the government announces that it’s ceding large portions of the country to China and Mexico. The Constitution is no longer in effect, and what’s left of the U.S. Army has been deployed to suppress rebellion in the remaining states.
The man sent to confront John is General Bob Scales, John’s old commanding officer and closest friend from prewar days. Will General Scales follow orders, or might he be the crucial turning point in the quest for an America that is again united? As the dubious Federal government increasingly curtails liberty and trades away sovereignty, it might just get exactly what it fears: revolution.
Book 4
Five Years After
From William R. Forstchen, the New York Times bestselling author of the One Second After series, comes Five Years After , a near-future thriller where John Matherson must contend with new threats to the fragile civilization that he helped rebuild.
Five years after The Final Day , the Republic of New America has all but collapsed into regional powers and the world at large is struggling to remain stable as regional conflicts ravage the post EMP landscape. After several years attempting to lead a quiet life, John Matherson receives the news that the President is dying from a possible assassination attempt, and is asked to step in to negotiate with what appears to be a new military power hidden in the wreckage of the world.
Pulled back into the fray, John struggles to hold the tottering Republic together. Facing threats on multiple fronts, he races against time to stop another EMP attack on the former United States and China, putting years of progress at risk. With so much of his work under threat, John must find the strength within to start over, so that he can save the country and the people that he holds dear from even greater calamity.

rmoor, I don’t know what I find more scary. THAT “One Second After has already been cited on the floor of Congress as a book all Americans should read, a book already being discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a truly realistic look at a weapon and its awesome power to destroy the entire United States, literally within one second.”
Or the concept the book portrays. Maybe it’s time for the USA to consider running power lines under rivers etc, or underground. Or invest in simple Faraday cages around sensitive infrastructure. But I have a horrid feeling the result was more of “We need weapons like that too” - lol
Thanks for the upload

Well as y’all say with war, MOVE. Did it work? How far have you moved urass? Welcome to my Iceland

As if Iceland is safe. Hamas could take out Iceland if the ever wanted a Palestinian State. Anyone taking out America would take out Iceland on the way. Guess you should move to a place that could defend itself…

The book that convinced me to start prepping. A very timely read

Not prepping yet here, but great books anyway.

In my “Younger days” I believed in prepping. Now, Well lets just say Bleach, Salt, and a few Cans of Food. Bleach sorts out the water, Salt for any game and Canned Food for initial few weeks. That is it. It’s too easy to get obsessed. And as for “Toilet Roll” - Seriously! Wash your Ass!, Paper won’t clean it - lol
However, Although I am no longer a hard and fast prepper. I am a firm believer that “Preparation and Paranoia” will keep you alive when “Hope and Luck” will lead you to the grave..
In the 80’s I survived 30+ days in the wild (I even got a medal for it) and that was with a “Go-Tin”. A small 2oz tobbacco tin. Although I admit it wasn’t too hard (I found a bag of dog biscuits - Old and stale, but edible).
If the S**t hits the fan now, well I doubt I’ll survive it. But if it does happen -at least I’ll have these books to listen too thanks to rmoor!

@ markpollack
you say
“Anyone taking out America would take out Iceland on the way. Guess you should move to a place that could defend itself…”
Hate to blow your bubble - but firstly, Why would someone wanting to take out America hit a different country 1000’s of miles away?
Secondly, America is at risk, as it’s infrastructure is poorly maintained, Above ground and Unprotected.
Not a critism of America, it’s a size issue. In the UK we do not have our power lines running above ground House to House. The cables are buried and the Transformers protected.
Smaller Country smaller scale, far easier to protect. Most of Europe is the same. Possibly why EMP’s are not being thrown around Moscow and Ukraine. No evidence of that - Just a thought.

EMP too corny. Books are a boring sleepy slog. Save your bandwidth.
